Location: Tsalenjikha, Georgia
Year: 2023
The project is located in the outskirts of Tsalenjikha, a small town in the region of Samegrelo, Georgia.
The main concept of the house is the reinterpretation of traditional Georgian timber walls with interlocked corner joints. The CLT structure of the house is placed on a reinforced concrete foundation, which, in a way, plays a role of a pedestal for the main body of the building and makes space for a wine cellar.
The morphology of the house echoes Colchian long houses, typical to the vernacular architecture of the region, where the functional spaces are arranged in an elongated manner, all incorporated under one roof.
